Budgeting and the 80/20 Rule

What can I cut out of my weekly schedule in order to increase my efficiency? Unnecessary expenses, such as long car drives, buying literally anything in a mall, or buying a new fancy car when you already have several practical vehicles. It can sometimes be hard, but if you discipline yourself, it will eventually become an instinct to cut costs. Sometimes you have to buy something to keep your sanity (which is ok), just don’t go overboard on the price.

The 80/20 rule basically means this: 80 percent of rewards come from 20 percent of your effort. If you’re more laid back about your work, you will most likely get an epiphany that changes everything. If you work harder, you will have no time for a game-changing idea and your money will flop. Thus, being intelligent and lazy is the best policy for making money and running a business. German military chief General von Manstein said:

"There are only four types of officers.

First, there are the lazy, stupid ones. Leave them alone, they do no harm.

Second, there are the hard-working intelligent ones. They make excellent staff officers, ensuring that every detail is properly considered.

Third, there are the hard-working, stupid ones. These people are a menace, and must be fired at once. They create irrelevant work for everybody.

Finally, there are the intelligent lazy ones. They are suited for the highest office."

As a conclusion to this essay, if you keep a good strategy and spend carefully, you will quickly become successful.

Does the 80-20 rule apply to everyone? If your boss saw you were being lazy, wouldn't he fire you?
