King Saul from First Samuel was Chosen directly from God, but soon became paranoid that someone would try to overthrow him. He soon became a violent oppressor. But was his paranoia just? Well, Saul soon did many horrible things because of his fear, but that doesn’t justify the things that he did. Saul killed 86 priests because they harbored a disguised David. They didn’t even know who he was.
David didn’t even do anything wrong in the first place! He was the one who slew 200 giants for Saul, led 1,000 men into battle, and defeated many enemies for Saul! He saved the Israelite army from slaughter by killing Goliath, the giant Philistine!
HE PLAYED THE HARP SO THAT SAUL WOULD BE LESS STRESSED!
And Saul sent his troops on a manhunt for David. TWICE. Even though David continuously had the chance to kill an unarmed Saul. David said that he would not kill The Lord’s anointed. Not only that, but Saul threw his own spear at David personally more than once.
David was well loved by the people of Israel, So jealousy also overtook Saul. All of these things at once can be deadly, as is clearly seen in Saul’s case. How did Saul die? Well, the Israelite army was overtaken on the battlefield, and Saul was personally leading the attack. When Saul looked around him and saw his army being slaughtered, he fell on his sword. So, Saul didn’t exactly have a good run as king….
