The Odyssey: Focusing on the Greek gods.

The gods are always fighting. Like the time Ares tried to overthrow Olympus (the city of the gods), and the time that Artemis, Aphrodite, and Athena all got in a beauty contest over a golden apple. The gods are just acting like kids most of the time, fighting over this and that and not caring if a couple of mortals lose their lives along the way. They even kill the mortals the other gods are attached to just to get back at them. Honestly, I don’t know why the Greeks want to believe that these are the guys that are in charge of the universe. Also, there is a flaw with their beliefs. They can’t worship all the gods because the gods want everyone to worship them. So why don’t the gods just decide to make a compromise, like “If you stay out of my space, I’ll stay out of yours”?

One of the reasons that the gods fight so much is because they have oversized egos. They think too highly of themselves because they’re immortal, and they think that they should have total control over the universe. One factor that may contribute is that they all have their own domain of prominence. For example, Zeus is god of the sky, and has control of the sky and lighting, and Athena is the goddess of wisdom in battle. They all think that what they do is better than what everyone else does.

The last reason that the gods fight so much is that most of them are siblings. Ares, Artemis, Apollo, Hermes, and Dionysus are all related, and that does explain most of it. Come to think of it, the gods do kind of act like one big, unhappy family (except they throw lightning bolts at each other and try to overthrow their parents.) As a conclusion, The gods are always fighting.
