Enlightened absolutism and constitutional disputes were occurring during the Revolutionary War era. Enlightened absolutism was a way of ruling where an absolutist monarch uses their powers of government to force some hand-picked tenets of liberty while ignoring those that threaten their control. This occured in the early 1800s, which is known by some as the age of reason.


King George III was of that mind. which brings us to the constitutional disputes between the colonists and the British government that led to the American Revolution. Well, the main disputes were about the British having control over America. The British imposed taxes on the Americans, took American jobs, and threatened to take people who broke the law in America to court in England. All of these factors combined were what sparked the Revolutionary War.
